About
NTUC Income
NTUC Income Insurance Co-operative Limited is the only insurance cooperative in Singapore. It provides life, health and general insurance products. It currently has seven branches and five lite branches across Singapore
CHALLENGE
Following the success of the startup program delivered in 2018, NTUC Income wanted to look globally in 2019 for startups that could solve their challenges across business, customers and employees. Below are the three challenges hoping to be solved by startup solutions:
1. Business
To help NTUC Income (Income) stay ahead of the curve, we are looking for solutions that shape the future state of insurance. For example, how can we stay compliant of the ever-changing regulatory requirements, or use data collection to create personalised insurance coverage during the underwriting process? Technologies we’re interested in include Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Big Data.
2. Customers
How can we effectively design and enhance the customer experience when purchasing insurance, servicing policies and engaging with various customer service touchpoints. For example - make better, targeted recommendations during different stages of the customer life cycle? Technologies we’re interested in include Customer Relationship Management and Customer Analysis Tools.
3. Employees
How can we use data and technology to help our staff increase their efficiency - whether for operations or smoother claims management, training for new staff, or information transfer between different teams? Technologies we’re interested include Machine Learning, Image Recognition and Workflow Management.
SOLUTION
Collective Campus developed a custom startup matching program and went to market, identifying and recruiting startups and scale-ups from across the globe that could address the business challenges identified by NTUC Income. Applications were assessed and selected startups were given the opportunity to develop paid proof of concepts (POCs) with NTUC Income.
OUTCOME
Over 200 applications were received from startups and scale-ups that could help the insurance company across the challenges identified, with 6 being selected to develop paid POCs. Several of the selected startups presented their POCs at the Singapore Fintech Festival. These startups included:
- Landmarks ID - A mobile location intelligence platform that provides brands and marketers privacy compliant location data on their customers real world behaviours, brand affinities and purchase intents.
- NOD - A platform for you to create document production magic! Build your own document automation workflows to create complex documents quickly and accurately, eliminating manual editing.
- JRNY - An artificially intelligent Insurance Distribution Platform that helps insurance companies protect people better.
