Glen Eira City Council
The City of Glen Eira is located in Melbourne's south-east suburbs, about 10 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD, and is home to over 150,000 people.
CHALLENGE
Glen Eira City Council was looking to lay the foundations for building a council for the future. With so many potential initiatives to explore in the innovation space, knowing where to start and what will add genuine value is a challenge for most traditional organisations looking to drive change, not least in the public sector which is characterized by nuances that the private sector is exempt from.
SOLUTION
We performed an innovation assessment to form an opinion of the resources, processes, values and systems in place at Glen Eira City Council and identified cultural enablers and blockers for remediation. This involved speaking to employees across vertical and horizontal lines as well as inspecting key documentation from across the organisation.
OUTCOME
1) Delivered an innovation assessment report
2) Prioritised recommendations across resources, values, processes and systems so that decision makers could make informed decisions about where to invest time and financial resources to drive culture change for innovation
3) Glen Eira City Council subsequently made investment decisions around culture and capability, informed by the results of this assessment.
